Diagnosed Hyperactive with Autistic Tendencies
Q&A Session 8 with the Director of The Son-Rise Program
Topic: Diagnosed Hyperactive with Autistic Tendencies
Q:I have 2 children, Keith (10 years) and Trishken (8 years) who are both diagnosed hyperactive with autistic tendencies, both of them do not talk but express their needs by taking my hand to whatever they want, screams or cries if they are not understood, both of them read and count and they understand simple tasks or instructions. We are living in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates and both my husband and I are also working here.
We would like to know how we can avail of your program, if you have an outreach program for those who cannot come to US for a lot of reasons (immigration as one). We desperately need your help. I have read a lot about your program and your institution from the internet.
Looking forward for your replies. Mary Ann de L.
A:
One of the great things about this program is that you can do it from your home! We will teach you how to do it with your children and then you can do it by yourself! So, immigration is hopefully not an issue for you then.
We have a two-week training program:
The first week is called the Son-Rise Program Start-Up, and it covers all the basics of the Son-Rise Program so that you can go home and set up a program for your boys.
In The Son-Rise Program Start-Up we teach you how to:
Set up a Son-Rise Playroom
Teach eye contact
Teach speech and social skills
Get a team of volunteers and how to train them and how to feel more comfortable with your child’s situation on a day to day basis.
This first week will carry you for 6-12 months.
The second week (which you would attend 6-12 months after the Start-Up), is called Maximum Impact. It focuses more on attitude, going further with training your volunteers, being persistent, being a team leader, etc. This second week is designed to carry you the rest of the way through your program.
We present both the Start-Up and Maximum Impact in Europe as well as in the United States.
