The Son-Rise Program and Down Syndrome
Q&A Session 5 with the Director of The Son-Rise Program
Topic: The Son-Rise Program and Down Syndrome
I read about you from our local newspaper…a lady who attended your Son-Rise Program wrote about her experience with the program. Does your program cover Down Syndrome?
Thanks…hope to hear from you soon..
A: Dear Helen,
Thank you for your question. Many parents will ask us questions such as: Do you help children with Cerebral Palsy? ADHD? Learning delays? etc. As you may know, The Son-Rise Program is best known for its work with children with Autism, PDD and Autism Spectrum Disorders, but this does not mean that only children who have received these diagnoses come here. This is simply the area that has become the most well known, regarding our work with children with special needs.
Actually, almost every time we have a Son-Rise Program Start-Up here on property (these take place four times per year on site, and numerous times off-site at other location in the U.S. and Europe) we have parents and professionals who come representing children, or adults with varying diagnoses. For example, in February a woman came because she was looking to help a person she worked with: a 45 year old woman who had brain injury due to the removal of cancerous brain tumors in her brain. We have had parents and professionals who are looking to help children and adults with Down Syndrome, as well as countless other diagnoses.
If you are wondering if we can be of help to your child, please don’t hesitate to contact us and arrange a free consultation with one of our Program Coordinators who can answer your questions and hopefully help you to make the best decision for your family.
We hope to hear from you.
